You can add a new lease either from the tenancy overview or directly from a lease page.
Follow these steps to set up a new lease
-
To get started, go to Tenancies and click on Add lease. If you are already on a lease page, you can find the option to add a new lease in the dropdown.
- Search for the address you want to add a new lease for and select if it should be residential or commercial. If you were looking at a lease before, we will auto-select the same tenancy for you and keep the purpose of the previous lease.
In case you have a new tenancy and want to set it up, you click Add new tenancy and fill out the address information.
-
You can choose to copy data from an existing lease to speed up the set-up process. You can learn more this functionality here.
-
After clicking on Create you will land on a new lease draft.
The page will guide you through the different steps of setting up the lease, e.g. filling in the tenant information, the start date, rent and other expenses. Some of the steps are optional.
If you need to change something, you can update the information later by clicking on Change. You can also use the left-hand menu to change information about the lease.
After setting up the basic information of the lease, you can choose to create a new contract in a few clicks or upload your own. You can find more information about creating contracts with Proper here.
Once you filled in all the necessary information, you can review all the data when clicking on Approve to check that everything is correct.
When everything looks good, click on Approve. Now your lease is ready to go and you have nothing left to do. Your lease will get reviewed by one of our onboarding specialists before Proper will start managing your new lease.
If you don’t need the new lease anymore, you can delete the draft at the bottom of the page. This will permanently delete the draft.
