What is the purpose of the billing address?
By default, the primary tenant is also used as the billing address - there are cases where it makes sense to split the primary and billing address tags.
The purpose of using the billing address tag is to distinguish between the tenancy address and the address that should appear on the billing statement or if you only have two tenants who should both receive a billing statement.
As mentioned, the billing address can replace the tenancy address if another address has been added to the contact. The address can be changed on the contact by selecting Additional information on the contact and unchecking the box Tenant's address is the same as lease address. You can find a more detailed description here.
The address will then appear in the PDF version of the invoice in the future. In addition, the contact with the billing address tag will receive the bill via email as an addition to the primary tenant. Commercial tenants also receive physical letters (e.g. notice letters) at this address.
How to add a contact as the billing address
In cases where a separate billing address is used, a new contact can be added with the tag billing address.
Step-by-step guide:
1. Go to Tenancies in the main menu
2. Select the tenancy where you want to add a contact
3. Go to Tenants & contacts in the lease menu
4. Follow the guide on how to add a new contact
5. Click on the three dots (···) and select Use as billing address
6. Confirm your choice
You now have two contacts, one as a primary contact and one as a billing address contact.
